Ozzik: Guide to Meedio, part V. Media Library. 24-1-07 12:55:23
And the last, but definitely not least: the media library.
This is where it all happens.
Before you start configuring your collection, I'd strongly advise you to organize it in folders first.

For movies, the best will be to place every movie in its own folder, the name that will be displayed on the screen will be the name of the folder. If you have 2 parts movies, make sure they have the same exact name with only last digit changing, i.e. "best movie ever1.avi" and "best movie ever2.avi", that way it'll be played in the right order.

For the music, I believe it's better to organize it by artist, then by album. That means, if you have 3 albums by "a-ha", it will be "a-ha" folder, inside we'll have 3 albums, and inside – the songs of course. Meedio displays filename and not IDv3 tag, so you better name the files the way you want them to be displayed. Personally, I made it: "track number - song name.extension". Of course, you should use a file/track renamer for this kind of mission, unless you only have 2-3 albums. If you have cover art – put it inside the album folder itself.

Pictures would be best organized in folders as well, but I think you already know that.
As for me, I also have a concerts folder, and a music videos folder.

Now, that you're done with the collection, let's import it into meedio and show it where everything is.
When we open the "media library" tab, we see the main section on the left and "items"/"imports"/"views" tabs on the right.
The left, of course, speaks for itself, while the right needs additional explanation.
"Items" is where you'll see all of the items in that specific section you chose from the left. Mostly it's used to delete something or to add if you only have like 1 item.
"Views" is for defining the way your files are gonna be displayed. Whether it's a list or thumbnails, whether you want it to be arranged by the name or by the year and so on. You can also do it in few steps. For example, you can arrange it in the way that when you open "my music", you'll first see the artist list, then, when you click on one of them, you'll see the albums list of that artist, and when you click on the album, you'll see the tracks in that album.

As for the "imports", it's a bit more complicated.
Let's do it together. We'll take a folder called "The Beatles" with 2 albums in it: Revolver and The White Album. In each album songs are called track1.mp3, track2.mp3 and so on.
One click on the "music" section on the left and imports on the right. If there is already an importer – open it, if not – make one (new). Name of the important is whatever you want it to be – you'll only see it here, in the configuration. The import mode is best when it's "update…". The plugin to perform the import is "Tag Mask File Importer". This plugin is importing the items by the file name. Choose your root folders. It can be more than one. Now, this is important for the next line:
If you have d:\music\rock\60's\The Beatles\..., you have to put 60's as the root.
Now the next line is a bit tricky. Pay attention. This is the ultimate tag mask for the music files: <artist>\<album>\<track>-<name>.<> it pretty much speaks for itself, but you got to understand how it works. <> - is extension mark. This mask shows how your files are organized, and how they should be imported. Look in the help file: C:\Program Files\Meedio\Meedio Essentials\doc\Meedio_Essentials_Help.chm for more info on the tag masks.
With the movies, it's much simpler. You just type in <name>.<> and that's it. The only box you MUST check is "group/chain files in each directory together" – that is in case you followed my advice on movie parts naming thing.
In all the imports, don't forget to type all of your files extensions, i.e. *.avi, *.mpeg, *.mp3, etc. Plus, if you have images inside the folders, you may type their extension names in the appropriate line and have them imported and associated as well.

Check some boxes at the bottom if you want it to run at specific times (that is only if you have your collection updated all the time).

You may create few importers with only different roots and what not. For your consideration.
Next we'll have to import the movie info/images from IMDB to have it look aesthetic, right?
What we're going to do is create another importer and choose IMDBmee2 as the plugin. It's pretty intuitive, so I believe you'll know what to do. Just don't forget to choose a cover art folder at the end.

Do the same for your pictures and other sections you might have created.
If you created a concert section, like I did, do it in the same way as the movies.

I conclusion, once you understand the principle, it's gonna be very easy and intuitive later.

That's it for now. I know it's very little information, but you're welcome to ask in the forums, and we'll do our best to help you.
