In the last decade or so, science has discovered a tremendous amount about the role emotions play in our lives. Researchers have found that even more than IQ, your emotional awareness and abilities to handle feelings will determine your success and happiness in all walks of life, including family relationships.John Gottman, Ph.D. Author

Ozzik: Guide to Meedio, part IV. DVD, DD/DTS and other tricks. 23-1-07 14:36:12
Now, the most important settings.
Those, that so many people have difficulties with.
By the way, I'm not promising that you won't have any problems, but by following this guide and installing the same soft I advised you to, you'll have a working configuration.
Basically, what we're trying to do in this case is get a DD/DTS sound (while playing DVD's or ISO's) from our receiver.
1. When configuring the Video Player plug-in, be sure to set the following:
Video renderer: VMR9 – not really a sound config, but as long as we are here…
DVD decoder selection: this one's a bit tricky, but personally I use the PowerDVD (ATI), while PowerDVD is actually installed on the PC.
Sound device to use for DVD playback: default WaveOut device.
Again, I want to remind you that it's possible that you'll have to play with the DVD decoder selection.
2. Some registry tweaks: (taken from meedios guide)
WinDVD:
First run the Meedio Essentials\plugins\general\video\WinDVD-SPDIF.reg file
Then add this registry change:
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-(...)\Software\Intervideo\Common\AudioDec] "AUDIO"=dword:00000006
PowerDVD
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\Common\CLAud] "AuDsInterface"=dword:00000004
If the above one doesn't work by itself then run the Meedio Essentials\plugins\general\video\PowerDVD-SPDIF.reg file.

Sonic Cinemaster
Run the Meedio Essentials\plugins\general\video\SonicCinemaster-SPDIF.reg file

3. Let's go over to the ffdshow.
Open the ffdshow's audio configuration from the start menu.
In the "codecs" entry on the left set the following:
WMA 7/8/9 – libavcodec
mp1/2 – libmad
mp3 – mp3lib
AC3/DTS – S/PDIF
LPCM – enabled

In the "output" entry, set the following:
LPCM, 640
Wave out
Allow direct to file

And in the mixer entry:
2/0 stereo
Normalize
Voice control
Expand stereo

In addition you have to choose the S/PDIF output in your sound card configuration, and 2 speakers.

I know from my own experience and from thousands of questions in the forums, that this is the trickiest thing, but if you have any difficulty – ask and we'll try to help you.

Regarding the music player in Meedio, set it (plug-in properties) to BASS engine, and choose your sound device from the dropdown box. This engine will allow playback of the APE, FLAC, MPC formats and what not.

Next: we'll go over the Media Library import settings.
